50cm Peg Loom
High quality peg looms made in Yorkshire with British hardwood. These looms have one row of peg holes, spaced to allow the loom to be used for chunky weaving using alternate peg holes (35mm spacing), and finer weaving using every peg hole (17.5mm).
Peg loom weaving is a simple and very therapeutic weaving technique, and with chunky wool you can create a small mat within a couple of hours! I run workshops to teach this technique for anyone who likes to learn in person.
At this width you can weave up to approximately 45-48cm (as some width is lost when the weave comes off the loom). And of course you can choose to go much smaller, using only a few of the peg holes.
There are are 27 peg holes. The wooden dowel pegs have a 3mm hole for the warp to be threaded through. 28 pegs are included with your loom, 1 as a spare.
I use these looms to weave my chunky wool rugs, seat pads and pet mats, using alternate holes. This spacing is perfect for thick carded wool, or textured raw fleece (I advise washing it first!). I have also used wool selvedge on this spacing with great results. The narrower spacing using every peg hole works well for chunky yarn and scrap fabric.
